Living by faith in a world that’s focused on self is hard. Everything around us causes us to crave things for ourself. We crave the new. We crave excitement. We crave pleasure. We crave anything desirable that we can obtain.

We find ourselves quickly overcome with the lusts of our eyes and the pride of life. We are overtaken by unfulfilling desires and cheered on by others who have already fallen captive to the same things.

I speak out of experience. One who has been betrayed by self, languished in misery of my own making, deceived by thoughts and actions that were far outside of the truth I was called to live by.

Have you ever been there? Are you there now?

One nugget of wisdom I would love to share if you are willing to hear it: Failure does not mean you are forgotten by the Creator.

In fact, those who fail are the ones Christ longs to restore. Your mishap does not mean you are left to languish alone. There is forgiveness for those who seek reconciliation. There is hope for those who wish to be restored.

It’s true that sin will take you farther than you want to go and cost you more than expected. On the other hand, Christ’s blood is valuable beyond measure, redeeming even the most broken of people and covering the most gross sin, the most expensive of all our debts.

I don’t know where you stand today, or what burden you may bear, but I know who has offered to pay for your debt.

If you have never met Jesus, I ask you to consider Him today. He came for you. He died to cover your sins.
