Everyone needs inspiration at one point or another. We need the encouragement, stimulation, push forward…
At times I am a purely selfish person. I seek after inspiration, encouragement, motivation. (Don’t we all?)
When I don’t get it, or can’t find it, I struggle. I admit this is one of my weaknesses.
So, in an effort to confront this issue in my life, I have started seeking to be the inspiration, be the encouragement, be the motivator.
It doesn’t necessarily come naturally for me but, wow, the work it does in my heart when I can take the focus off myself and place it somewhere else.
And inspiring others is not something I do from my own abilities or strengths, it is focused on God and His ability. Because, honestly, there is failure, weakness, and selfish desire in me. Yet, when I cling to Him, pursue Him with passion and authenticity, my failures don’t consume me, my weakness becomes strength, and my selfish desires disappear. In the presence of Jehovah things change.
We live in a world of brokenness, selfishness, and pain. Instead of seeking to be soothed, let’s seek to be the soothers. Let’s inspire others to draw near to God, seek His truth in Scripture, and follow His ways.
Inspire others and you will find yourself inspired.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” ~ Hebrews 10:23-25, NASB
