With all and In all

All. Everything. Every aspect. Every little part. Leaving nothing behind.

Proverbs 3:5-6 are well known verses. Many can quote them. They are positive and engaging verses. We like to focus on the trust and acknowledging parts. But I think we should be focusing on the all part.

Often we trust a little, or we trust somewhat, or with a part or a piece. It is difficult to trust with all. Especially as adults who have experienced the world and been burned a time or two.

The same with acknowledging. We can acknowledge God is some ways, in some things, but all things? That’s harder.

Perhaps that is why we are taught elsewhere in Scripture to become as children in our faith. Children have an ability to trust and acknowledge unlike any adult. They do it fully. They do it with all. They hold nothing back. It is what makes them so vulnerable and teachable.

So, we focus on the trust and acknowledge aspects, and say, “Yep. I do that!” In reality, we do it partially and accept that as “good enough.”

Today, I would like to encourage you to trust and acknowledge with all your heart and in all your ways. You can do it. It takes effort. It takes time. It takes determination and intention. But it is needful. It is necessary. When we do, we won’t regret it!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your was acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
