Take the plunge

Do you ever get sick of the fluff? You know, the trappings, the popular, the shallow…?

Imagine trying to swim in the shallow end of the pool. Is it even possible in less than 3 feet of water? Highly unlikely. And yet, this is where most of us spend our days. In the shallow end of our faith. In the fluff. Taking verses out of context and applying them like band-aids to our gaping wounds.

I get so tired of the shallow spirituality. Far too long I have kept it to myself. Far too long I have held my tongue and wished for change.

I didn’t want to be the one to call it what it was – biblical illiteracy, self reflective feelings, deceptive thought, the enemy at work. Instead I wanted to sit quietly by and let others live as they wished. I wanted to not offend. But that isn’t who God has called me to be – one who sits by and let’s others splash around in shallow waters when the deep end of faith is just visible over the horizon.

We need His truth in our life. We need His illuminating words to show us the filthy darkness we try to cover. We need it. Why do we gloss it over and sweep it away?

Ladies, we are especially prone to this. We are, by our nature, emotionally driven creatures. We cannot continue to let our emotions and feelings decide what is right or wrong. What does God’s word say? Follow that. Always check your feelings. Stop using feelings and emotions of the heart as means to find excuses. It’s time to be women of the Word.

The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; Who can understand it? ~ Jeremiah 17:9

What holds you back? What are you waiting for? It’s time to take the plunge into the deep end of faith. Go ahead and jump.
